“Life between poems and stories. ”
-Kurulu Niskalanka “15 years of my history”
Kurulu Niskalanka is a Sri Lankan poet and storyteller whose literary journey began with “Kurulu Kavi” (2015), a debut poetry collection that captured tender emotions in lyrical form.
A decade later, in 2025, he returns with “Aadaren Inna”, a collection of poems that celebrates the timeless depth of love. Shortly after, he will release “Hello ”, a long-awaited love story first written on social media in 2010 and later serialized in the Mawbima youth newspaper.
Alongside his romantic works, he is also the author of “දසිස්”, a mytho-historical saga weaving together the legacies of King Ravana, King Dutugemunu, and the Ten Great Warriors.
Kurulu Kavi 2015 Edition
Kurulu Kavi is the debut poetry collection of Kurulu Niskalanka, first released on 27th September 2015 at the historic Independence Square, Colombo.
These poems, many of which were first shared on Facebook since 2010, capture moments of love, solitude, and reflection. Each page pairs words with striking photographs taken by Sri Lankan photographers, creating a vibrant dialogue between verse and image.
Printed in full color, Kurulu Kavi is not only a book of poems but also a visual journey, celebrating the meeting of poetry and photography. It marks the first flight of a poet who continues to write of love, loss, and legend.
ආදරෙන් ඉන්න 2025
“Aadaren Inna” — which means Stay in Love — is a poetic journey through the seasons of love.
In these verses, an unknown couple meets by chance. Their hearts connect, passion blooms, and for a moment, love feels eternal. But as time flows, their story bends toward loss: separation, silence, and the bittersweet ache of a love that cannot last.
She walks into another life. He remains, holding only the memory — and the poetry — of what once was. This collection of poems is both a celebration and a lament: love’s beauty, love’s fragility, love’s truth.
HELLO 2025
Every love story begins with a word. Theirs began with “Hello.”
Between ringing phones and whispered midnight conversations, two hearts—Sudu Nangi and Sudu Ayiya—discover a love that grows through voices carried across distance. Their world is built not on grand gestures, but on simple words, laughter, silences, and the warmth of being heard.
Hello is a novel of intimacy in its purest form: a love story told through conversations. It reminds us that sometimes the smallest word can hold the deepest meaning.
